This landscape photo, from the Guna Yala region of Panama, shows dark powder blue water below the horizon, in the middle of the image; and a similarly dark powder blue sky—all through the filter of an imperceptibly light fog. In the middle of the photo, at the horizon line, a small round island is visible. The island is 150-200 feet away, and maybe another 100-feet in diameter. A cluster of dark green and dark teal palm trees rises from every inch of the island, 50-60 feet high. Intersecting the lower left third of the image we see a dugout canoe which is almost parallel to the lens. The stern is slightly more distant than the bow, which is tied to a stick jutting out of the water two canoe-lengths to the right. A fisherman sits in the canoe, his back to us, arms stretched out sideways, as he manages the fishing line.
