The water, a muddy blue-teal pastel, is calm except for long ripples that turn the reflected roofs into dark brown, striated streaks on the surface. A bright blue sky provides a colorful contrast to the bright golden thatched roofs.

The cabana on this pier takes on a golden glow in the setting sun near Bocas del Toro, Panama.  We had no idea that we would never again return: The September 11 terrorist attacks changed the world.  Image taken while cruising Central America in our Hallberg-Rassy HR 42 sailboat ‘Andante,’ in 2001.
