    A Rastafarian on the island of Saint Martin.  His dark skin and white shirt in full sun presented some exposure and white balance challenges—which required a lot of work in Capture One post-production.

Mother and daughter fill most of the frame, except for a huge white cloud that extends from the mother’s shoulders to the top of the image—apart from blue sky in the upper left and right corners of the photo. The mother, in her twenties, wears a gold sleeveless tank top and a gold necklace with a heart-shaped pendant, which contrasts brightly against her dark skin. She smiles broadly as she faces the camera. Her hands braid her daughter’s hair, who sits in front of and below her.
