  • This landscape photo, taken in the Guna Yala region of Panama, looks down into a dugout canoe at two Kuna children. The canoe slices the rectangular image at almost a 45-degree angle, from upper right to lower left. Sitting in the canoe, a sister and brother look up at the camera, curious but unsmiling. The eight-year-old sister steadies herself with her right hand on the starboard gunwale, her left arm around her younger brother, who is perhaps six years old.
